You feel like you’re running out of post ideas for Instagram… but I’m not going to give you more ideas.

The problem isn’t that you need more post ideas, it’s that you’re approaching content the wrong way.

In this episode, I’m breaking down the root cause of why you keep getting stuck and what to shift so you’re not sitting there wondering what to post every week.

Why You’re Running Out of Post Ideas

Most practitioners assume they need more ideas. But the real issue is how you’re thinking about content.

If you’re relying on random inspiration or trying to come up with something new every time you post, you’re always going to hit a wall. The goal is not to constantly create new ideas, it’s to change how you approach content altogether.

Shift #1: Post From a Place of Why, Not “Should”

This is going to sound simple, but it makes a huge difference.

If your content feels like something you “should” do, it’s going to feel heavy and forced. That’s when posting starts to feel like a chore.

The shift is posting from a place of why.

There are people in your community who need what you offer and don’t even know you exist. When you anchor back to that, your content stops feeling like another task on your list and starts feeling like something that actually matters.

Shift #2: Be More Specific

If you’re running out of post ideas, your content is probably too broad.

General posts like “3 reasons to see a chiropractor” are harder to create consistently and less compelling to your audience.

What works better is getting extremely specific.

Instead of broad topics, think in terms of real scenarios your patients are experiencing. For example, speaking directly to a specific type of patient, condition, or situation makes your content easier to create and much more effective.

This is also what allows you to generate ideas quickly, because there are endless specific situations you can speak to.

If you want more examples of how to turn this into actual posts, go back to Episode 157: 3 Easy Reels When You Don’t Know What To Post.

Shift #3: Repurpose Content (But Not 100%)

Another reason you’re running out of ideas is because you think every post has to be brand new.

It doesn’t.

Repurposing content should be part of your strategy, not the entire strategy.

If you’re posting multiple times a week, at least one of those posts can be a repurposed version of something that has already worked. That alone takes pressure off constantly needing new ideas.

I go deeper into this in Episode 165: My #1 Strategic and Time Saving Hack for Your Practice’s Instagram Content, which is all about how to do this effectively.

Shift #4: Stop Trying to Make Everything Perfect

Perfection is one of the fastest ways to run out of ideas.

When everything has to be polished, curated, and just right, it slows you down and makes content creation feel overwhelming.

It also doesn’t perform the way it used to.

More casual, less curated content tends to connect better because it feels human. When you let go of perfection, you free up your creativity and make it easier to actually post consistently.

Shift #5: Use the Data You Already Have

You don’t need to guess what to post. You already have the data.

Your intake forms, patient notes, and conversations are full of content ideas.

Look at your most recent patients:

  • What were their main complaints?
  • What exact language did they use?

That’s your content.

Instead of creating general posts, speak directly to those real situations. This not only gives you endless ideas, it also makes your content more relevant and effective.

Bonus: Collaboration Posts

If you’re getting referrals from other providers in your area, that’s another opportunity for content.

You can turn those relationships into collaboration posts, which helps you reach new audiences while strengthening referral partnerships.

If you want a deeper breakdown of how to do this, go back to Episode 115: The Hidden Power of Collaboration Posts.

Wrapping It Up

If you feel like you’re always running out of post ideas, it’s not because you’re not creative enough.

It’s because you’re relying on the wrong approach.

When you:

  • post from a place of why
  • get more specific
  • repurpose strategically
  • let go of perfection
  • and use real patient data

you stop needing endless new ideas. You already have everything you need.

I have root cause cured you from not knowing what to post. And it's actually not more post ideas that I'm gonna be giving you. That might be what you're thinking when I say I've cured you from not knowing what to post. But like I said, this is the root cause. The root cause is not just giving you ideas.

I'm gonna teach you to think more like a full-time content creator. And you might be like, well, hey Molly, your whole shtick is like, I'm not teaching you to be an influencer. You don't have to be an influencer. You don't, you don't have to be an influencer, right? You've got full-time patients to see, practice, to run, whatever.

However, there are things that we can take away from the people who do this professionally. Myself being, I mean, I'm, I'm definitely not a full-time content creator. I, I define those as people who like make their full-time income just by creating content, and that is not me. But again, I'm gonna give you five things.

That will either reframe or give you something to think about. Like I said, that's, that's really going to, I think from here on out, make you be like, wow, I'm no longer strapped for, like, trying to wonder what to post. Um, before we dive into the episode really quick, I just wanted to remind you that my new masterclass is now running on demand.

It's called the Go-to practitioner, fill your Clinic with local patients using Instagram, and it's 45 minutes long. You can just go to molly cahill.com/masterclass and get instant access. It is my proven four part framework that, uh, we use in our agency for all of our clients. I've got like mindset shift stuff that takes it from, so like I said, mindset shit, but that too from like, oh, should post today too.

Okay. I actually wanna share this. Um, I give you my easy button method for posts that are super magnetic so it stops people scroll. Because you know you really wanna achieve that. Like, oh my gosh, like, how did you know that? Like, you're in my head, you're in my, are you in my living room? Um, I also talk about some of my favorite behind the scenes networking hacks that like everybody skips, but it's really the stuff that makes a big difference.

And then lastly, I talk about my framework for consistency. That actually saves you time so that you can actually increase those patient bookings. So again, go to molly cahill.com/masterclass. We'll link it in the show notes too, or you can just DM me on Instagram. We can't talk today. You can DM me on Instagram, the word masterclass, and uh, you'll get the link for it there as well.

So, okay, let's dive in to this episode so that you never, how would I say this? You will never not know what to post again. Did I say that right? You get it? Let's go.

Hey, welcome to Holistic Marketing Simplified. This podcast boils down to the fact that we wholeheartedly believe that more humans need to know about holistic health solutions. And you didn't go to school to learn how to be a full-time content creator and show up on Instagram and do all of this marketing stuff all day, every day.

So let's come hanging out while we chat. All things easy in your marketing, and my goal is that you shift your mindset around your marketing from a quote should to a I get to more dream patients and clients. Yes, please.

Hi, I'm Nick, certified yoga therapist in Victoria, British Columbia. And I help people with back pain and anxiety, and I listen to and love the Holistic Marketing Simplified podcast.

So like I said, this is root cause stuff. This isn't just like more post ideas. So the first thing that I think will quote Cure you from never knowing what to post again is, this is gonna sound cheesy. Don't roll your eyes, hold your eyes fixed. Do not roll them at me. You need to be posting from a place of why not a should on your to-do list.

You if you are not new to me. You have heard me say this a million times, but it makes a huge difference in your energy in showing up. Okay? Again, this is not a, well, Molly said I should post on Instagram for my practice to get more patients. Um, or this is something that everybody's doing. My colleagues are doing it like I need to be doing it.

It's on my to-do list. It's a should. That is a very different energy than, uh, there is, you know, someone in my community who is either desperate for answers. Um, they're not getting, you know, the answers they need from their primary care doctor or their specialist or whatever. Or even if they're not desperate, even if it's just somebody who's like, you know, looking to get back some energy and reclaim, you know, feeling like themselves.

Again, those people are in your community and they do not know you, you exist. Okay? And that is why we do this. So simply anchoring back to that, that is your life raft at all times. When this starts to feel like a slog, you have to return to that. I'm telling you, it makes such a huge difference, and the reason I say it in such a preachy sounding way is because I have to tell myself this, all right?

Like there are definitely days where I'm like, Ugh, and then I have to really revisit like, why am I doing this? It's like, okay, chiropractic, acupuncture, all kinds of things like that have helped me so much in my life. What if I had never had the opportunity to know that any of these things existed, and how different would my life look?

And not in a good way. By me showing up every day, I am, you know, helping you reach more people like that in your community. So that's the first one. It's just like reframing, like, why are you doing this in the first place? And it really shifts the energy. The second one, this is so, so, so simple. You're gonna be like, oh.

Again, if you are not new to me, you've heard me say this a million times, you have to be more specific. You are very likely not being specific enough in your content. If you are running out of ideas regularly, the reason you're running out of ideas is 'cause your content is likely way too broad. Oh, sorry.

Ugh. I dunno if y'all saw I broke my toe. I'm sick of sitting, so I'm trying to stand while I record this. But my toe, last night, I had a nightmare and like jumped outta bed. I thought I heard my daughter like screaming and she's nine. So I like jumped outta bed, jumped onto my broken toe and I'm pretty sure I like rebroke it or something, but now it just, it is, it's like cramping.

So yes, I'm red lighting and I've got some great homeopathy and ice and all that jazz. But anyway, sorry, my toe just cramped up in the middle of my, in the middle of my point. Okay. So like I said, number two, you're not being specific enough. When your content is too broad, that looks like posts that are like three reasons you need chiropractic.

Even something like three reasons your baby needs chiropractic. It's still way too broad. What is more specific that does work is something like, I've seen hundreds of toddlers with chronic constipation in my pediatric practice. Here's how we wean off MiraLax. So that is so specific that you could take that exact formula, that exact hook and substitute.

Constipation and MiraLax or pediatric whatever for literally anything else. I've seen hundreds of high achieving moms with chronic migraines in my acupuncture practice. Here's how we wean off U bravely. What's the name of that really common prescription drug. You see how specific that is like that? Even if you have migraines and you're not taking that specific prescription medication.

It is still so much more compelling than like three reasons to get acupunctured because you're meeting people exactly where they are. Back on episode 1 57. Three easy reels. When you don't know what to post. I actually talk about this. That would actually be a great companion episode to this episode if you haven't listened to it yet.

So 1 57, we will link it in a show notes or fun fact. You can always just DM me the episode number or comment the episode number on any of my content, and it'll send you a link like no opt-in required or anything like that. One of those like easy to have in your back pocket reels is like one of those like dear algorithm reels.

Have you seen those? Actually don't have that listed as one of my three, but it's, it's the same concept where it's like, dear algorithm, send me all of the x and X looking for x. So like Dear algorithm, I'm gonna stay on the MiraLax train 'cause it's easy. Send me all of the moms in Raleigh who are looking to help their child's chronic constipation without MiraLax.

So again, like that whole dear algorithm thing is so specific. You could post that one once a week if you wanted to with a different variation. Dear Algorithm. Send me all of the CrossFit athletes in Cincinnati, Ohio who are looking to rehab their shoulder without surgery or something like that. The more specific your content is, it's not only going to be more likely to stop someone scroll and get them to actually book an appointment because you are truly taking the thought that's in their head and like putting it right there in your hook.

But two, it helps you like, again, like never run out of ideas because you could think of super specific scenarios like this all day long. So again, that was number two. So number one, posting from a place of why, like why are you doing this? Number two, you are being too broad in your content, and that's probably why it feels hard to keep coming up with ideas.

So you need to be even more specific. Okay? Number three, you're not repurposing content as part of your strategy. Now notice I said part, not a hundred percent. You will see some full-time viral content creators whose advice, and I mean, yeah, their Instagrams go bananas. But I also have a friend with 95,000 followers and no sales.

So I don't care if your Instagram goes bananas, I want people on your schedule, right? So we're not a hundred percent just going to double down on posts that are performed well because typically the posts that I have quote unquote, performed well from a metric standpoint on Instagram. They can be the same ones that get people to book an appointment.

We've had that with clients where they've gone viral and literally I got a text saying her phone was ringing off the hook for new appointments. But often those are just more kind of like that top of funnel like awareness type posts. That might not be the thing to get people to book. So that's why I said repurposing content as part of your strategy.

Not a hundred percent. At the end of Holistic Marketing Hub and in my group programs, I teach how to batch create two weeks worth of content. And so if you are posting four times a week, I would say at least one of the four needs to be a repurposed post. So think about it that way. Think like one out of four posts is a repurposed top performer.

You cannot be consistent. And of course you're going to run out of ideas. When you think that you have to create everything from scratch and reinvent the wheel over and over and over again, I always, at least once a week, sometimes twice a week, am doubling down on something that has already performed really well and repurposing it.

I did an entire episode on repurposing content, so I'm not gonna deep dive into it now. It was just, just aired very recently, episode 1 65. The title is my, my number one Strategic and Time Saving Hack for Your Practice's Instagram content. So go. Definitely go listen to that episode if you haven't already on repurposing content.

And like I said, that is another thing that's going to help you with not running out of ideas. Okay. So the fourth way I have cured you from not knowing what to post is you're trying to make everything way to perfect. So it really squashes your creativity and that might not sound like that, that goes together.

You're like, how does perfection make me run out of ideas? Well, not knowing what to post can very much be tied to the fact that you're trying to make everything perfect. And so you're like, maybe you're like, oh, I, maybe I do have a lot of ideas, but like, oh, the time it's gonna take to put all this together in a way.

Like, it really squashes your creativity when you try to make everything super duper perfect if you're, you know, like, don't wanna take that at face value. Think about it this way. Perfect content isn't even a great strategy 'cause it doesn't even perform well anymore. Very often we see the like more messy, uncurated type of stuff is performing better anyway.

When you can lean into that human connection and emotionality that is going to win every time. And that's what happens when your content is not perfect. So like I said, perfection really tends to squash that creativity of not knowing what to post. So that is number four. And then the last one is, again, super easy button one.

The reason you're running out of ideas is you're not using the data that's right under your nose. It's right there. Check your intake forms, your EHR, whatever it is that you do, and mine that for chief complaints. Of your most recent new patients recent, did they write down pregnancy, hip pain. Guess what You're gonna post about pregnancy?

Hip pain. You're not gonna post. Reason to see a chiropractor during pregnancy, I'm not kidding. You're going to post about pregnancy hip pain. So like I said, use the the exact language that your patients are writing down as their chief complaints. And we ask our Instagram management agency clients this every single month.

What were your five last new ideal patients and their chief complaints? And that is always a post idea bonus if they were referred to you by a colleague, referral partner in your community. That's another idea is to do some type of collab post with, um, the person who has referred you. If you wanna learn more about collaboration posts, I do a really deep dive on those.

In episode one 15, the Hidden Power of Collaboration Posts. So again, one 15. We'll link that in the show notes, or you can DM it to me. You can just google Molly Cahill collaboration post and it should come up that way as well. Okay, so to recap the five things that will help you always know what to post.

And again, some of this kind of sounds like how does this directly impact having ideas, but I promise it does. One, make sure you're posting from your why not just a should on your to-do list. Two, be super specific. Don't be broaden your content. Three, repurpose content as part of your strategy. Four. Ditch the perfectionism.

And five, use the data right under your nose, the chief complaints from your intake, paperwork of your new patients or clients. All right. I hope you found that helpful. I have a very fast favorite. Please don't turn me off yet. I have been at the same number of, um, podcast reviews on Apple. So if you're listening to this on Apple, I've been at the same number of podcast reviews for a while, and so I would really, really appreciate it that if you do listen on Apple.

Would you mind rating the show and giving me a review? Sometimes you have to hit like the little three dots on the episode and then hit go to show and then scroll all the way to the bottom and you'll see like the little five stars. I would appreciate that so, so, so much. I know that y'all are all really busy.

It just means the world to me. Um, if you could help me out, I would greatly appreciate it. And I also hope that you go watch my free masterclass, molly k hill.com/masterclass. And I know that you'll learn a lot there as well. All right. Thank you so much for spending this time with me. Have a fantastic day.
