If the idea of becoming an “influencer” makes you cringe, you’re not alone. A lot of holistic providers think marketing on Instagram means posting daily videos, sharing affiliate links, or dancing to trending audio—and honestly, that’s not what you signed up for.

In this summer short episode, I’m giving you a much-needed reframe: You don’t have to be an influencer to market your holistic health practice effectively. In fact, if you’re a local provider—whether you’re a chiropractor, acupuncturist, naturopath, or massage therapist—the strategy is completely different. And way less overwhelming.

Let’s talk about what works for your kind of business.

Local Marketing ≠ Influencer Marketing

Here’s the truth: content marketing for a local audience is a totally different game than trying to build a personal brand or go viral.

When you’re focused on attracting people in your geographic area, you don’t need to reach thousands of strangers. You just need to connect with the right people—your dream patients or clients—who live nearby and need exactly what you offer.

That’s why the holistic providers I work with thrive on a content strategy built around connection, not content overload.

Why You Actually Do Influence—Just Not Like That

I know the word “influencer” brings to mind curated aesthetics, product links, and big followings. But let’s not forget: you already are an influencer in your community.

If a patient asks what supplements you always carry in your bag or which red light device you personally use—that’s influence. It’s also great content.

When you show up and answer the questions your patients are already asking in real life, you build trust. You differentiate yourself from others in your field. And no, you don’t have to dance or point at bubbles on your screen to do it.

The Content That Converts (Without the Overwhelm)

If you’re stuck posting only educational content, but you’re not seeing new patients book… this part’s for you.

Too many providers lean solely on health tips. While those are helpful, they’re also easily Googled. The content that makes people choose you instead?

  • Your personal take on common questions (“Here’s why I use this supplement…”)
  • Local collabs and community connections
  • Behind-the-scenes glimpses into how you practice
  • Testimonials and social proof
  • Lifestyle and values-driven posts that showcase you as a human

In short: people buy from people they trust. Give them a reason to trust you.

If you want to go deeper on how to rotate content without burning out, check out my Content Ecosystem—the free resource I created to help holistic providers plan posts that actually lead to bookings.

New Reels-Only Offer (and a Hub-Only Bonus!)

If the idea of content creation still feels like a lot, you’ll be excited to hear this: we just opened up a new Reels-Only Package where we handle your edits, captions, and even posting. 🎉

Plus, we brought back our fan-favorite Quick Start Concierge Setup, exclusively for Holistic Marketing Hub students. It includes a full profile audit, custom pinned posts, and edited reels to help you start strong.

Wrapping It Up

Bottom line? Marketing your practice shouldn’t feel like pretending to be someone you’re not.

You don’t need to be an influencer—you just need to be visible to the people who already need your help. And I’m here to show you how to do it with ease.

Episode Transcript

Welcome back my friends. I am broadcasting to you from my bedroom because it is summer and my daughter is downstairs with the babysitter. So I'm in my recliner with my blankie and my dog and my microphone holding it like Bob Barker in my room. It's a very dreary day today in Cincinnati. We've actually had like fifties and sixties at the end of May, which is like crazy chilly.

I wanted to start off this episode. Well first to tell you if you've been a long time listener, I am bringing back the summer shorts, which is where I have like 15 minute or less, hopefully 10 minute or less summer podcast episodes that you can just like really quickly binge. I still have some guest episodes sprinkled throughout the summer.

Obviously, guest episodes will be longer. Yeah. So if you have any topics, any questions, uh, that's literally what's informed. Today's episode is a question I got specifically from somebody in my dms, so please send me a message. I would be so honored to answer your question with a podcast episode or maybe I already have content I've created in the past, and I can send that your way to, to get you, um, get you on your merry way.

I also have an exciting announcement. So we have been on a wait list for Instagram management for a while, and we still are. We actually have 37 people on our wait list for Instagram management. So in order to be able to serve more of you, we have created some new kind of like hybrid offers that I am super stoked about.

One is a reels only package. So rather than doing just like full service Instagram management, we've created this reels only package where we will edit and write the captions for eight reels a month for you and just put it on a Google Doc. We will do the posting for you as well, which seems to be like the most popular part.

For some reason it's like us doing the posting, which I would've thought it would've been all of the editing and the fact that we're sending you really specific ideas of what to film. But no, people seem to be the most jazzed that will actually post it for you as well. We will do have limited spots for that.

I don't know. Like I said, I don't wanna give you like a number right now because I would just be making it up and lying to you. But I mean, obviously we can't take on just like probably more than five more people I would think for the service is is about right. I. If you want more information on that service, you can just go to my website@mollycahill.com and then at the top you'll see, uh, Instagram management.

We, like I said, we still are on a wait list for like the full service Instagram management stuff. Those offers are called the Presence package and the Growth Package. But as I said, we do have availability for this new little like. Hybrid, smaller reels only offer that we have created. So I'm very excited about that.

So that price is 5, 9, 7 a month. It's just a minimum three month commitment. Like I said, we will give you super specific ideas of what reels to film. And if you're like, how are you gonna know that? Well, we have a very smooth onboarding process. A simple questionnaire you fill out. We'll tell you what to film.

Obviously, if you have your own ideas, you can do that too. We will edit the video, write the caption, put it all in a Google Doc for you to review with the video, all edited and ready to go, and we will post it for you for just 5 97 a month. So like I said, at the time I'm recording this, we could probably do, like I said, four or five more people.

The other exciting announcement is if you have been eyeing holistic marketing hub or if you are a hub, current hub student. We have just brought back one of our most popular services for years. We had something called a quick start. It was like a concierge set up of your profile and we sold tons of them, but we unfortunately had to turn it off because.

Quite frankly, we just got a little too busy and it threw, it kind of threw like a wrench in our normal systems and processes for our Instagram management clients. But we have since expanded our team. We had a lot of people on the team having babies, so we got a lot of people back. We've expanded the team, like I said, and um, we just, we have capacity for it now that we've got the extra team and so we brought that back, but we.

Updated it and gave it a massive facelift to make sense for Instagram 20 25, 20 in 2026, and it's, like I said, it's called the Quick Start Concierge Setup. So this is available only to holistic marketing hub students. So again, if you're a current student, you got an email about this and it's in our Slack channel.

If you are eyeing the hub and but you're like, Ooh, I want like a hybrid offer. Like where, okay, yes, I'm gonna upskill my front desk or upskill like a patient who wants to learn how to do my social. But I still want like some handholding in the beginning of Team Molly. Or even, like I said, even if you don't have staff, like if you're just trying to, to, if you're a one man or one woman show and you're trying to learn how to do this yourself, but you wanna make sure that you get started off with the right foundations, that's exactly what this is for.

What's included with that is we will revamp, rewrite, or just write your bio depending on where you are, right? So if you're just starting, we'll get your profile all set up for you beautifully. If you have an, you know, are established and have an existing profile, we'll audit your bio and be like, Ooh, okay.

Let's say this instead. Rewrite that for you based on like your own target market, we will create your three pinned posts for you. Like this is what I need to have my own team do for me because my, my pinned posts need to be updated. If you don't know what a pinned post is, it is just that the top three posts on your Instagram profile that like stay there.

And those are pretty time consuming to create. Um, I do have a template for them though as well. If you, um, haven't checked that out, you can just go to molly kay hill.com/pinned and we've got Canva pin post templates for you as well as, uh, specific ideas of what to put on your pin post. But we will do that for you as part of this concierge quick start service.

So the three pin posts, and then we'll also edit and caption six reels for you. Um, we don't offer posting with this service. We could, like, if you're like, Hey, can you add on posting? Like, we could just like figure out a custom price to get those all posted for you. But yeah, like I said, that is available for any and all hub students and like I said, so if you've had your eye on it.

But the thing that's been keeping you from pulling the trigger was like knowing that once you buy it, you're gonna need. Still some like done for you help, then this is the perfect time to hop in. Um, you'll see it as like an upsell screen once you enroll in HMH or it's like, like I said, it's like everywhere.

It's in the Slack channel, it's in an email, all that jazz. You'll see how to grab it. Okay? So, and the link for that is just molly cahill.com/quickstart, and that's if you are, like I said, a current hub student. If you're not, you just wanna see like what's all included. You can go to that link as well. So let's dive into what today's episode is about and the summer short.

So some feedback that I just got from one of my current hub students. Was she was at the Chamber of Commerce meeting and she was talking to a naturopathic doctor who was also at the chamber meeting telling her about my program. Thank you. Shout out Dr. Nicole, thank you for sharing, uh, my program with other people.

I truly appreciate that. For those of you who don't know, if someone does enroll in the hub, um, because of you, I do give $200 commission, so let me know. I mean, I know y'all are all just amazing. I'm gonna do it anyway as I would do the same for you. I like for there to be like that energy exchange, you know?

So anyway, so she was sharing the hub with this naturopathic doctor and she was like, yeah, but I'm not trying to be an influencer. And I was just like, oh, that's so, um, interesting. 'cause that is in a lot of my marketing material. Like I'm not trying to teach you how to be an influencer. So if you think that.

Doing Instagram means that I'm teaching you how to be like this content creator, influencer full time. I'm just gonna be on there singing and dancing and providing affiliate links all the time. Then this episode is for you and I'm going to give you the reframe. Of what it's actually about. And the other common question that goes along the same theme that I get often is how much to rotate in personal content versus like educational.

So that is what we're gonna cover today. I. Here we go.

Hey, welcome to Holistic Marketing Simplified. This podcast boils down to the fact that we wholeheartedly believe that more humans need to know about holistic health solutions, and you didn't go to school to learn how to be a full-time content creator and show up on Instagram and do all of this marketing stuff all day, every day.

So let's come hanging out while we chat. All things ease in your marketing and my goal is that you shift your mindset around your marketing from a quote, should to a I get to more dream patients and clients. Yes, please. My name is Dr. Kimmy, and I'm a pediatric and prenatal chiropractor in Virginia, and I listen to holistic marketing simplified.

So trying to keep this episode, like I said, super short, and the intro was really long. So here we go. I'm probably not gonna make my 10 minute cutoff. Maybe I'll make the 15 minute, but what I say, if you're like, oh, I just really, I don't wanna get into this Instagram stuff because I'm not trying to be an influencer.

Of course you're not. You are. If that's what you are looking for. I am not the right Instagram strategist for you. My specialty is helping holistic health providers who draw a local audience. You don't necessarily have to have a brick and mortar, but just meaning you only work in a local graphical regional area.

That is my expertise. I have stepped away from teaching like health coaches and life coaches. I mean, I, I still, from time to time give some tips because so many of my students are brick and mortar or like seeing patients and then trying to add on some type of online marketing. So, like I said, I still talk about it some, but my, my true specialty, what people come to me for, like I said, is that local marketing.

I love this for a few reasons, because local marketing, so when you're just trying to use your Instagram to grow a local following, there is so much less pressure involved. It is, in my opinion, so much easier. The sheer amount of followers, likes, comments, all of that that you need is so much smaller.

There's just more of a blueprint, if you will, like, it's like a very targeted, strategic way of growing a local audience versus growing. I can reach anybody in any English speaking country or whatever, like those are gonna be not two totally, totally different strategies, but there are a lot of differences and nuances.

And so like I said, where I really shine is teaching you the local part. So one of the biggest questions I get from. New students are like, if I'm on a guest on a podcast, it's like, well, how do I grow a local following? And that is precisely, like I said, what I teach instead of holistic marketing hub inside, like this podcast, all my free content on my Instagram, um, a lot of my free downloads and such, I.

So the difference in what I teach versus you trying to become a quote influencer or like, you know, I know what people mean when they say influencer, but I will just push back and say, we all are influencers in our own right. Right. Looks like we might be standing in line somewhere and someone's like, oh, I love your purse.

And you're like, thanks I got it at Target. Like, you're an influencer, congratulations. Um, but I know that's not what I know. That's not what people mean when they ask me that. They mean like they think of like. I'm not, you know, I, I'm a naturopathic doctor. I went to school for this long, like, I'm not trying to be like a health influencer.

Like totally hear you. What it is that you're trying to, what you're saying. But again, like I said, let me reframe it to say that when you are just trying to draw a local market, it's a very different approach. And it's just, like I said, so much less pressure. People who are, like I said, I'm just gonna keep using the word influencer or full-time content creators.

They aren't. Mostly, most like none of those people, not none, but majority of those people aren't trying to see patients or clients one-to-one throughout the week. Like their literal full-time job for earning income is creating content on Instagram. So that is not you. Right? Like I said, if it is, if that is you, then DM me.

I'll steer you in the direction of a million other podcasts and coaches. But that's, that's not what I teach. One of the specific examples that my lovely student had given her was like. One example of a real prompt is like, you know what's in your bag? And she's like, oh, that feels influencer to me. Well, you can't tell me.

I'm just gonna keep using the naturopathic doctor example. You can't tell me that your, whether you call 'em clients or patients have never asked you, Hey, Dr. So-and-so like. What do you always take with you when you travel? Like what supplements do you always have with you when you travel? Or like, Hey, what do you keep in your purse in case you get, you know, a headache or upset stomach or something?

Like even if people haven't outright specifically asked you, I guarantee you your patients or clients want to know this stuff. So this is not you trying to be an influencer. This is literally you just doing a continuation of your job and the questions that people are currently like asking you and wanna know.

So start training your brain to pay attention to when you are, if, even if you do see these people virtually, but maybe you just, like you still draw a local audience or whatever, like pay attention to the questions that your clients or patients are asking you. Outside of, well, not just outside of what they are there for, but like, you know, like I, for example, was asking my acupuncturist, like, I don't have a primary care doctor.

And I was like, Hey, my husband needs a primary care doctor. Like, who do you and your family see? So like I said, you know, there are questions that your patients or clients are asking you. And that may, that type of content is going to make you stand out from the other, let's just say naturopathic doctors in your area or other chiropractors or other massage therapists or other functional medicine doctors or whatever, because it's your unique take.

That's not something you can ask chat GPT. I'm not like against ai, I love ai. I'm just saying like that's, that's content that makes people choose you. My whole like tagline, the name of my masterclass is like how to become the go-to provider in your area. And that is the type of thing that makes you stand out.

Anybody can Google generic health tips, but what they can't do is take the unique authority and experience from your specific brain and get that delivered to them via the content that you create. That is what makes. Instagram like magic, and that is what is going to make you, like I said, stand out amongst your peers who are just posting generic health tips and thinking if I can educate them to death, then they will come be a client or patient.

I. So typically what I see happen with people who don't want to be a quote influencer is that their feeds are just full of educational posts after educational posts, one after the other, and yet they're not getting people actually booking appointments with them. The reason for that is because, like I said, this is just generic stuff that people can find out on their own.

I wanna hear why you, why you pick this one specific supplement brand or red light or whatever. Like I don't care that like you just recommend it. I wanna know why you, with your experience, why this is the one that you picked and I wanna know why you are the one who's qualified to tell me about it. So I don't have time in this episode since I'm trying to keep it short to dive into my whole content ecosystem.

But that's another thing that makes the way I teach things unique versus so if you're like, oh shoot, that's me. I'm only posting educational content and wondering why nobody is booking. Then I invite you to check out the show notes where I talk, uh, podcast episodes, where I talk specifically about my content ecosystem, which is a way of rotating content beyond educational, where we talk about different content themes that you should be hitting each month.

And just as a quick overview, educational is one of those, I call it like educational and authority type content. Um, another one is personal and lifestyle. Another is direct pitching, saying like, okay, literally you're real, or your post or your story would be like, I have availability for four new patients next month.

Like very specific direct. The fourth type is community collaboration content. So that's where you're shouting out. So for example, you know how I said, I asked my acupuncturist what primary care doctor she recommended, like that's like community collaboration content. Maybe you're a naturopathic doctor who mostly just works with fertility, but you have another person in town who you recommend for like.

Menopause, you know, that could be a great collaboration type post there. Another type is what I call engaging or can't help myself. Content, which are just super simple prompts, like, you know, what's one supplement you can't live without? Or What's one, you know, comment. The last three things you bought on Amazon, no cheating.

Um, I just call these like, can't help myself. Prompts. People just can't help themselves but comment like they want to throw in their 2 cents. And then the last type of content is testimonials and social proof. Which is like actually showing, Hey, I'm, I do the thing I say that I do. So you're actually, like I said, providing this is beyond just, you know, posting like a, a testimonial quote that can be part of it, but it's again, it's just like actually showing that you do the thing you say you do.

So I go over all of this. Like I said, it's called my content ecosystem. You can Google Molly Cahill content ecosystem and it will come up. Like I said, I've covered it on a couple other podcast episodes, or you can go to molly cahill.com/content ecosystem and you can find that free download there that walks you through it.

So to sum all of this episode up, why is this different than being a quote influencer? If you wanna, like I said, whether you wanna learn from me from consuming my free content or my podcast, which yes, will help you a lot, but if you wanna get there faster and more efficiently than enroll in HMH and I teach you this stuff, holistic marketing hub, I shouldn't have abbreviated it.

I teach you this stuff quite literally, step by step from start to finish. The difference is this is how you stand out to become the go-to provider in your. Area versus, like I said, you're just not just like giving, Hey, I'm gonna give you a whole bunch of generic health tips. So, like I said, that, that's the biggest difference.

Okay. I hope this summer short, this first summer short of 2025 was helpful. As I said before, please make sure you DM me with any and all of your questions. 'cause I've, I've like just been doing this so long and I've recorded so many episodes that I'm like, what have I not covered? What do people want to know?

I would love to feature your topic. So without further ado, I don't know why I said, without further ado, that doesn't make sense. Oh, I'm tired. I hope y'all have a great rest of your day. Thank you for listening to Holistic Marketing Simplified. Hey, you know how every podcaster at the very end of their episode asks you to rate and review their podcast?

Well that's because it's super important. These podcasts take a lot of time and heart and effort to produce, to bring you free information. So in order for me to be able to continue doing that, we need more people to find out about the show. So if you could please just take like two minutes out of your very busy day to leave me a rating and share this on your Instagram stories and tag at Molly a Cahill.

C-A-H-I-L-L-I would greatly, greatly appreciate your support. I know your time is valuable and I can't wait to see you in the next episode.
