How to Use Trending Instagram Reels Music Without *Actually* Doing the Trend!
A step-by-step guide: How to leverage the power of trending Instagram Reels music but still hear your voice and create content original to you
When I filmed this Reel, the song you hear in the background was trending. It had specific dance moves that went with it and I got tired of seeing the exact same thing performed over and over.
If you have spent any time watching Reels while engaging on Instagram, you know what I’m talking about- doesn’t everyone else get tired of seeing the same exact thing over and over?
However, there IS power in using trending audio – it can potentially help your Reel get greater reach (the unique number of people who see your Reel).
As I mentioned in this post, trends should be the exception and not the rule and it is hard to “keep up” when you’re trying to plan your Reels ahead of time but feel like by the time you post it the trend is gone. The steps below are a great way to batch your Reels ahead of time and still take advantage of the go-go juice viral sounds can give you!
But first… how do I find trending audio?
I don’t do anything fancy. I simply look at what Reels are showing on my Explore page or watch a few Reels from the Reels tab. If there’s an arrow next to it, it’s trending. I then save the audio to use later, or, I use a song that shows up in “Suggested” when I’m posting the Reel.
The sooner you can jump in, the better. If you’ve already seen it used a million times, I would look for another.
Next, open up Instagram → tap the plus sign on the top right → select Reels → upload a video you already made from your camera roll. You can also record right in Reels, but I like to do mine ahead of time and store them in Planoly. This is also what we do for Instagram Management Clients.
Then, you tap the music icon on the top and turn the camera audio all the way up and the song audio down to 4 or so.
And voila! No memorizing dance moves or feeling like you always have to be ready to post, RIGHT THEN!
